Today (2nd October 2014 ) I chose to feature Apophysis fractals from the perspective of a non Apo user! Hope you like them!

Weird World by SjerZ
Weird World by :iconsjerz:

This fractal smacks of intrigue and mystery. The intorwoven brick like textures bring to mind deep caverns or underground sewers, dimly lit.  It's a sort of Neil Gaiman expose of "Neverwhere". Small quote: Beneath the streets of London there is another London. A subterranean labyrinth of sewers and abandoned tube stations. A somewhere that is Neverwhere.

Lepidopteran Confession - Pong #38 by LightBulbMoon

Lepidopteran by :iconlightbulbmoon:

I digress! This one caught my eye last week and I had to look up the title. According to Wikipedia it's the collective genus name for butterflies and moths. You can see them here, wings outstretched. Like adornments of gothic architecture, busy doing what they do!

STARBIRTH by renderix

STARBIRTH by :iconrenderix:

OK - back to Apo - What happens when a star is born? According to Scientific American "All stars are the result of a balance of forces: the force of gravity compresses atoms in interstellar gas until the fusion reactions begin. And once the fusion reactions begin, they exert an outward pressure. As long as the inward force of gravity and the outward force generated by the fusion reactions are equal, the star remains stable".
Aptly titled this manip conveys the essence of this fusion of elements with both solid and gaseous forms interacting.

In the words of a commentator "a classy and amazing piece of art in it's own right". Framed in a gold frame and in the right setting this would make a wonderful piece of wall art

Romantic Succulent - Myrtillocactus by Escara40

Romantic Succulent - Myrtillocactus by :iconescara40:

My last piece is a fascinating (for us Europeans) photograph of  the naturally occurring fractal like forms of a mexican cactus. If you would like to know more about these beauties please see:…
A nicely framed and clearly detailed piece.

1st place winner:

He started making Fractals in 2009
He uses only Apophysis versions 2.08, 2.083d hack, 2.09 and now 7x15.
Sometimes he uses Adobe Photoshop for further editing his Fractals, but the majority of them are just Raw Fractals.
Here is one of his Favorite pics using Apophysis with photoshop edit:
And here is another of his Favorite Raw Fractals (using only Apophysis 2.083d):…

My favorite deviation he made has to be "Etheric Dimension"

"I also consider myself a psychedelic / surreal artist. And enjoy making a lot of pictures using just photoshop. I make a lot of mandala / kaleidoscopic designs. I also do some Traditional Art - painting, drawing, chalk and pastel work, sculpting... But i absolutely love making Fractals more than anything i think. I have always had an interest in them for years but once i really started to learn about Fractals and their nature... and how all Nature or even Universal/Dimensional Existence.. from the giant(macro) galaxies down to the molecular (micro) atoms etc... all have a Fractal structure to them in one way or another. That really changed my perspective of our world! and i have been addicted to Fractals ever since!"

2nd place winner:

He's been "fractaling" for about a year and a half now
Preferred program of choice is fr0st, but occasionally he uses apophysis, mandelbulb, and Incendia
Favorite style is to use saturated colors and fairly simple designs. some of his favorite pieces include:
Swirl in Blue… and Subterranean Arcanum… .

My favorite deviation that he made has to be Opposing Elements
